    Legion

In honour of week 7 I found this image of the Legion of the Superheros. 7th on a list here. Visit Newfoundland this summer. You know you want to.

It is officially the start of week 7. I hit the mid-way mark mid-way through the week.

Someone asked me yesterday if I feel better. Honestly, not really. I certainly feel different but I don’t know what good is. I’m pretty much sore all the time. Last night was a tough yoga class which had one benefit. Unlike the previous week, I did not feel like a rank beginner. My theory is that this is due to Saturday being truly a rest day.

Today, however, is not a rest day. I have my 7th personal trainer workout session with Mary.

    Then I get new homework.

    TheGibbon

This is an obscure cover for an obscure villain that randomly came to mind. And I own this comic.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! So, in the department of irony, it was yesterday when the first person who noticed that I have lost weight (and Tim had gained height) was the owner of Koko Monk … a bloody chocolate shop. (I must ask for sponsorship reasons that you visit this new article chocolate in Vancouver to see what Tim and I bought his Mom for Mother’s Day.)

I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say.

I have to say the stress is getting to me. It’s really hard to maintain the effort (even on a rest day) when I have so many other responsibilities.

By the way, I coded around the failing “cookie” variables in ColdFusion. I also learned that in the new version of CF 11 when you launch a window with Javascript, the session scope variables (values whose life span is as long as you have the browser open) do not transfer to a window opened via Javascript

Many may say “what are you on about” but be assured this stuff is annoying and time consuming.

    BatmanIronman

That and being super smart would help. Smart people visit my site here: ROM and click on stuff.

Day 41. Screwed up last night with a sugar attack. I’m mad about that, given I managed to dodge a bullet when shopping on 4th Ave with Carolin. I got super hungry and ducked into a fish shop and bought salmon lox. This saved many lives. Shopping, hunger and a diet is not a good mix for me. But this did not stop me from late night sugar later.I am also frustrated with (non edible) cookies in Coldfusion 11 on my new Windows virtual server and with a plethora of other issues that I won’t bore you with here.

If only, if only, if only.

Today is technically a rest day for the body, but I really need to do some much computer work that I hope my brain can stay with the problems.

    GreenLantern

This is from a New 52 Justice League comic where Green Lantern meets Batman for the first time. They should go to Joey Toronto to discuss.

Today is day 40 and it finds me slightly better rested. Yesterday was a tough day and I was off my game in a number of respects. Obtaining sufficient sleep is an issue.Thursday is a challenging day because we normally have karate from 6-8 PM. This after doing a ride to/from work and a workout at the gym. The gym workout felt like I walking through chilled molasses while wearing steel toed boots.

In an attempt to maintain some sort of positive attitude I noticed one change for the better. There’s a move in karate called a side thrust kick (See video.)

The tricky part of this kick (for me) is the fact my right leg has to hold me up and change foot position to do the kick. Normally I collapse. I managed to do three (albeit crappy looking) side thrust kicks without falling over or hollering in pain too much. It’s a start.

Time to clear the mind and get back to work.

    iceman-spiderman

I’m sending Spider-man and Iceman to Fort McMurray. Please check out the post I have and donate if possible to the recovery.

Today is killer Thursday. Cycling to and from work. Mary Killer Homework. Double Karate. Followed by a healthy dose of white wine and ibuprofen. If I live.

When you’ve been battling the condition of — what’s the polite way of putting this? — being a lard bowl one tends to have very negative thoughts in the context of self-image.

What’s different this time is I have progress to show. So why can’t I have at least have a neutral view of self-image? Or, preferably, no view at all?

The habitual consumption of wheat, dairy, sugar and other treats is not the only habit I’m breaking.

No lack of surprises to be had. Blood pressure was a bit high but pulse at record lows. Huh??

    Atomica

This is Atomica who was in a Justice League comic I just read. Turns out she was a bad guy from Earth 3 and in the end was squashed (literally) by Lex Luthor. Goodness. Go here Salt Spring Island for a more relaxing time.

Day 38. About halfway through Week 6.Yikes. Basically I am an idiot because last night due to a complex set of conditions that included day care pickup, Bach Choir rehearsals, Bach Choir social event, Catherine’s work hours and something else I’ve forgotten, I, Carolin and Tim had dinner at Subway.

I had a wrap, which I thought was a better than their regular fluffy bread. I realized afterwards that I could have made them put the meat and veggies in a bowl and bypassed the carbs completely. I am such a dope. Which just goes to show the power of bread and habits.

Today, below, you will find the killer homework which I get to try out tomorrow. Today is yoga.

No riding as the wind and rain is too unpleasant and I had to carry a box with a gift for my Mom back east. It’s now safely in the hand of Canada Post.

As I walked down the stairs from our apartment, my legs thanked me for the break from riding.

    Stargirl
This is Star Girl. She’s DC and I don’t know much about her, but she was in a Justice League comic I was reading. Apparently Jasper is great for star gazing.
Yesterday’s personal trainer session was intense. One killer exercise was a thing that eventually leads to an insane burpee. First do a forward fold, place hands on the floor, walk out with your hands to a plank, hold for five breaths (or wheezes) and the walk back and return to a standing position.Eventually you add a jump and a pushup to this. Eventually being the key word. The first two of these are fine. The next eight in the set are something else.

Turns out that I wasn’t doing squats correctly all these years and when you do them correctly, funny, they’re much harder.

I can’t post the killer homework yet because Mary’s having some computer problems. I’ll post it as soon as I have it. I’m not sure what I’m going to be able to do at the gym today given how sore I was last night. Despite trying not to, I had to take ibuprofen a couple of hours after going to bed.

However, in a good sign, I have to buy new gym shorts. I can’t stand what I have. But, dang, when the hell do I have time to do that??

    Hawkeye

I forgot Hawkeye from Civil War. I actually own this comic. Visit Cape Breton to relax and visit my uncle-in-law’s B&B.

It’s the start of Week 6 of 15. June 28 seems like a long way away, but considering last night I signed up Tim for a summer camp, I am rethinking that delusion. It was a gorgeous morning to ride to work. I was however cut off another cyclist who, frankly, had a wonderful bottom. The yoga/workout clothing was perfect for her and the attire, combined with the iPhone and dual ear pieces, were far, far more expensive than the helmet she wasn’t wearing.

    Honestly.

Meanwhile, in efforts to not look like a circus bear on a unicycle, I need to be careful around diet. I can feel the edges of giving up creeping into my mind. I want to take corrective action now so as to avoid the sense of cramming-for-the-exam in June.

However, there is a family birthday on May 18 and I plan to have cake. I better hit the gym as much as possible.

Today I see Mary the personal trainer for our 6th session. I look forward to the pain.

    SheHulk

I picked She-Hulk for no reason. I think she should be in a movie. Please go to Sidney BC and check out the cool bookstore.

Although Saturday was supposed to be my day of rest, we did a yoga class because today’s schedule would not allow or normal Sunday yoga class. As fate would have it, our expectation was a relatively chilled Hatha class. However, the Power class had been cancelled and our instructor felt obliged to boost up the class to a semi-power class.

I can honestly say with my tight muscles I felt like a beginner, like I was back at the beginning wonder why the ___k I thought I could do this insane diet/fitness regime in the first place. I kept reflecting back on having achieved the goal of no blood pressure meds. This was needed in order to prevent me from jumping out the window and running across the street to “Rain or Shine”, an ice cream parlour.

I wish the media and other folks would stop wondering why there are so many over weight people. Dieting and fitness are time-consuming, physically and mentally painful. In these moments of stress and strain the goals of looking better, feeling better, improved longevity, fitting clothes better, etc. seem highly ethereal and equally unachievable.

Tomorrow is the start of Week 6. Good lord, if I have to endure 10 weeks of this and am still horse-sized, I am going to be deeply pissed off.

It’s amazing the fun wonderful things you can find on the Internet.
OK. Last night was a big treat. For sponsorship, please please visit Hamilton Street Grill.

Catherine and I had a night out, which was wonderful. It was cool and fresh and no raining. Couldn’t ask for better when using public transit and shoe leather.

But of course having deviated a little from the diet, I have to be sure I don’t start continuing along that line of “oh just a couple of this and a couple of that”. I really want to avoid the cramming-for-the-exam in the last month of this adventure. I have enough stress as it is.

Today is a rest day from the aggressive fitness but I have to admit a bike ride on this glorious cool day wouldn’t be a bad thing.
