Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 9

This is an odd collection of characters. It’s time to see The Falls.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 9
Today I’m better rested but not recovered from the shoulder. I have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow. I need to do so strength training today, but I won’t rely on that bunged-up area.

The presence of chocolate almonds is due to pain and fatigue. I have to figure out another way to mitigate that but it was terrible yesterday.

But, I still feel like I’m dropping weight. I was also slightly hungry going to bed, which is always encouraging.

How have I never had a Killer Frost image before? It’s 25° in the Kawarthas.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 8
Clearly it’s a Monday. I dropped my shaving bowl and it broke. I cut myself slightly cleaning it up. I am tired because the right hip joint was a mess at bedtime and I had to roll it out with the metal core roller and take more acetaminophen.

Time to put such issues aside.

Diet? How’s this? My son noticed I lost weight off my legs. I tell you my legs were not on the list.

Due to a medical appointment there will be no workout today. Probably a good thing. My injured shoulder blade area is still not right. And this morning’s mishap did not send the right omen into the day.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 7

Avengers 3. Practice water safety in the Okanagan please.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 7
This morning I did a rare 9 AM yoga class. The family schedule was weird and I needed to do something to try to straighten out this pulled shoulder blade muscle.

I think it helped, but it’s still all tight in the wrong places.

I had a cheat pizza and a glass of wine last night.

The stain of all this really got to me yesterday. I know many people see this as just a diet. What’s the big deal? All I can say to those who feel this way, is try it my way for two weeks and then let’s talk.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 6

Deadpool and a guy named Snake Eyes. I feel more like Snake Eyes. Warm water fish off of Nova Scotia.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 6
I am very angry because I pulled the muscle that connects to my right shoulder blade. I was doing a ropes warm-up with excellent posture and then about 10 seconds into it, bang. Spasm in the shoulder blade, I dropped the ropes and became very angry. The day before the trainer and I had really worked on the area and I thought I was sufficiently recovered.

Today is the first weekend day and I tried sleeping in and resting but it kind of made me miserable.

We see Bard on the Beach tomorrow night instead of a yoga class. I wonder. Maybe I should go earlier in the day and try to literally straighten this mess out.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 5

Captain America and Punisher. There’s an ethics discussion Ottawa would enjoy.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 5
This whole process seems to be about trade-offs. A 7:30 AM personal trainer session is brutal. I have a new trainer and he, at my request, was focusing on how I had hurt myself Tuesday doing deadlifts. My theory about bad form was correct. I have always had weak muscles in between the shoulder blades. I was shown how to activate these properly in a deadlift and I’m pretty sure I now know how to do this. I also have a hack for correcting my posture during the day. I slouch and it weakens the upper back.

The diet, however, went sideways due to pain. I was off-kilter for the rest of the day and took chocolate “medicine”. However, I achieved a lot of steps and kept my cycling going and the calorie burn recorded by the Fitbit was high.

And, the nocturnal disruption was lower than average as of last night. Fingers crossed I may have started re-training, even though I was super thirsty after 8 PM.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 4

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 4

I’m not sure why The Hulk is bald. Apparently in London Ontario you can be drunk, drive the wrong way and blow up 7 houses.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 4
Good grief. 7:30 AM personal trainer session. Hopefully in the Fall I can get back to a noon time regular session. I weighed in, but won’t look at the numbers until the end. The diet feels like it’s working. The focus today was on posture because I pulled a muscle in my own deadlift on Tuesday. Yesterday’s yoga class seems to have straightened it out. I am however tender all over because the workout was focusing on keeping my shoulder blades activated at the right time.

I must focus on my many tasks.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 3

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 3

They’re making a Shang Chi movie. I have this comic somewhere. Check out my new Langley BC travel article.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 3
When you restart a diet/fitness program on a Monday, normally things are wonky on the Tuesday. In this case there was minor wonky-ness in that I ate too much at dinner.

The other bit of annoyance is that I did the deadlift wrong, again, and pulled the muscle in the bottom right part of the back before the low back. It seems to be coming back together. I did stop the exercise the moment I felt the strain.

Tomorrow I see the personal trainer to see what I was doing wrong. However, his only time is 7:30 AM on Thursdays for the coming three weeks. Bleech.

I still shut off the food and drink at 8 PM, but there wasn’t a great improvement in disruption. It was also hot in the apartment.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 2

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 2

I bought this very She-Hulk comic in Coombs BC at a rustic used bookstore.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 2
Much of the diet/fitness process has turned into a mental health process, so yesterday I had two different medical appointments to try to move the needle on fatigue in general and mental fatigue in particular. By in particular I mean depression/anxiety.

So, armed with research and all my questions written out, freshly off my bicycle, my GP said, “You aren’t presenting as someone who needs medication.” However, I am up in the night to visit the bathroom too frequently so I am off for an ultrasound. “Does it hurt?” I asked. “Uh, no,” the doctor said.

He did ask, “How would you feel if you got two weeks of good rest?” I responded, “I’d take one night.”

The premise under which I’m operating is that I’m stunningly sleep deprived, but enough of a maniac to keep on the move. I am now supposed to stop eating and taking in fluid by 8 PM. Which I did last night and still was up 4 times. That’s what the P = 4 in the chart means.

Meanwhile I was super strict yesterday and at exactly 1:19 PM, my body screamed, “Where the fuck are the carbs?” Someone had mixed nuts in the office and saved the day.

Wolverine, my inspiration, leading the fight. Wild tennis news featuring a Mississauga kid.

Mutant Diet Phase 10b Day 1
Good Grief. Another mini-phase. This is meant to last at least 2 weeks. I’ll call it until August 30. It coincides with my wife and daughter tackling a vegetarian version, which is based more on trying to knock refined products right out and keep things really low glycemic index and then put things back.

I am going to try to keep to the 2000 calories as per Phase 10.

We just returned from a indulgent week’s vacation. I am so amp’d up on carbs that my body is going to freak out when it realizes what I’m doing.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 10a Finale

    Mutant Diet Phase 10a Finale

Why do they want to put 6 bad guys into the upcoming Batman movie. Murder suspects still on the loose in Manitoba. How are they surviving the wilderness?

    Mutant Diet Phase 10a Finale
Ugh. I gained two pounds between the end of Phase 10 and the start of Phase 10a and then basically kept that 2 pounds. Honestly I feel a little less bulky around the middle, but that may be the exercise.

What did I learn? I don’t have a hope in hell of losing weight unless I stay consistently within 2000 – 2200 for days at a time. No effing chance.

I am planning for what I do next. Obviously aggressive fitness with a strong plan to avoid injury will keep the metabolism amp’d up.

The brain game will be crucial. I need to drop the stress around all this and simply do the maximum of what can be done without needless judgement. I have a process that I know works. It’s time to try to encourage it.

There’s going to be a vacation week the first full week of August and then at least two strict weeks following. Let’s see what I can do.

Let’s call this the end of Phase 10a and see what happens in August.
