    Ultraman

These three are bad versions from an alternate universe of Superman, Flash and Lois Lane (Superwoman).

The story line I’m reading has these guys being very nasty and it takes all of Earth’s super villains to take them down. Go to New Brunswick to relax.

My trainer said to me yesterday that going forward I might want to eat more. She said I’d be surprised by this assertion so I am – very – surprised.

Somehow I don’t think she means chocolate chip cookies from President’s Choice. Damn, why did I write that? Anyway, once she tells me what she means I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, let’s talk numbers. The chart below compares fitness activity against previous months.

It looks like I’m on track to meet or beat my average numbers for April and May.

The next chart is my last week worth of homework.

The mental game is now to accept that …

    (a) I’m not done and I won’t be
    (b) It doesn’t matter because the change needed was not realistically do-able in 3 months
    (c) When I say I’m taking the summer off, most people seem to think that I’m going to lie in bed for two months eating M&Ms. This is their perceptual problem, not mine.

    FlashHarleyQuinn

I was looking for an image of Flash racing someone and he’s Harley Quinn wanting to race him. With cheetahs.

A week today I will have my last personal trainer session and final weigh in and measurements.

    A week.

By the end of next Monday, I will know how to estimate the second phase. Yes, the mirror says I ain’t done. This is hardly a surprise given about 12 minutes into this 15-week extravaganza I knew that there would still be work remaining. I am looking forward to having real data to use in estimation.

However, this is too much forward thinking. Today I need to keep on track and keep my sanity chip fully screwed in.

It’s lovely in Vancouver today. Click on the link and do stuff!

    LukeCageJessicaJones

There are very few parents in comic books. The superheroes often have parent figures, but rarely do they become parents themselves. The Fantastic Four is an exception and this image shows Luke Cake and Jessica Jones as parents.

Happy Father’s Day to fathers all over.

It’s a wet Sunday in Vancouver and I still have a cold. Make it go away.

Tomorrow is my second-last Monday before the final weigh-in and measurements. The conclusion I have drawn so far is that I probably started out worse off than I thought, made significant progress, but still have 40-50% remaining.

The plan for the summer is to ride as much as possible and continue my personal trainer homework at the gym. Diet-wise, I am not going to stress, but I’m not going back. Wheat is going to be minimal as that seems to be the key for me.

In September, I want to kick off a second round to push through to completion before Christmas. Completion will be defined next week.

There’s still time to play Guess the Weights game from Day 74. Put your guess on the comment page.

Make sure to visit Hamilton Street Grill for good food.

    AvengersOld

I found this old comic cover and I think I have it. Hard to remember. One day I’ll go into the storage locker and check.

So little time. So much lard. 9 days and counting. However, despite a cold, a gym homework session, a 22.8 km ride home and then various chores, I still had a little gas in my tank. Stamina has improved.

And, boy, it was stunning around Stanley Park yesterday. The weather was gorgeous and I have to do a shout out to the Hudson Elementary PAC for a Summer Fair with bouncy castles, dunk tank, food trucks and more. It was a wonderful day for a great event.

I did obtain extra cardio workout via the random walkers on the Stanley Park Seawall. It had been a while since I last did that ride and the number of tourists has increased.

My friendly-sounding “on your left” call to cyclists and pedestrians gradually changed over the ride to “Oh for crying out loud!”

    Superherocollection

I just like all the characters in this image. Go here for random summer destination.

It occurred to me that the reason I think I haven’t got anywhere with this regime is that one loses weight from all areas of the body more or less evenly. This leaves your least favourite part, proportionally, just as unsightly as it was in the beginning.

Which makes sense. How odd would you look if you lost only your stomach weight and nowhere else? You’d be considered a plastic surgery disaster.

If you can believe it, I’m 10 days away from the final trainer session and weigh in.

As I rode over the Burrard Bridge today — perhaps this was the cold talking — I realized I was done. I’ve had enough of this process.

However, I’m still keen to see how this story ends.

    AmalgamSuperSoldier

I had a sudden memory of a DC/Marvel mashup where they released Amalgam Comics. In this one Steve Rogers is made into a Super Solider with Kryptonian DNA. I want to go to Kits Beach and sit of a log and read.

There’s a definite sense of the clock ticking down. But let’s talk bicycle repair. I ran over something yesterday on the way home. I’m not sure where, but I remember hearing an unpleasant crunching. By the time I got home the front tire was heading toward flat. I pumped it up and you could hear the leak. I found it and rode over to the bike shop. They took the tire apart and inflated the tube and no leak. WTF? I found the spot on the tire where the air was coming out and I could stop it with my thumb. Nevermind. New inner tube and a better alignment of the tire.

At home, I learn the printer has decided not to work. In the mechanism that you can’t reach a spring had let go. Catherine of the Eagle Eyes found this. Is there any way into an HP printer? Uh, no. It was over ten years old so off we went and bought a new one. The rest of the evening was spent installing it and driver software on three machines.

So yes, I’m behind. I have a small cold that’s annoying. I have personal trainer homework and karate today. I hope to do it all and solve all my other problems.

    Urk.

    SpidermanRain

I figure it was a good day to show Spider-man in the rain. Visit the Vancouver Aquarium on a rainy day.

Meteorology is an imprecise science. It started to pour in the time it took me to observe on my “accuweather” app that it was mixed cloud today, look out the window to confirm this, go downstairs and retrieve my bicycle, do a couple stretches and cycle two blocks.Soaked to my toes.

    Damn you accuweather.

I’m having to actively pursue positive thinking because I realized that I have at least as much fitness work ahead of me as behind me to take me out of the “fat guy” category. To that end, I had a realization last night. I took Tim to Aquaventures, where he takes swimming lessons. I had not done this in some weeks as it’s normally Cath’s job. At Aquaventures they have the plastic lawn chairs for parents to sit in. See below. When I last sat in these there was no spare space. In fact sometimes when I stood up I took the chair with me. Now there’s space.

So, we are all curious and will have to wait now 13 days until the results are known and published.

You can still win chocolate here.

Oh, look. The sun’s out. Grrrrrrrr.

    NewAvengers

This image is a comic now considered old (from 2005) that I own. I guess my comics from the 70s are really old. On this wet Vancouver day, I’m thinking about beach time in Wasaga Beach.

It’s not that I’m paranoid, but I don’t like the signs. Or absence of signs. (That no advance green at Main and 12th heading south really sucks.)A cold is still trying to get at me and has made more progress. The right knee swelled slightly after the workout yesterday. Icing worked quickly. And it’s raining removing my bike riding (arriving at work all soaked and dirty from the road is not on).

I have new homework to work on. I think I know what pissed off the knee so I’ll skip that.

I know a few people have been inspired by this process but I wonder how many have also said “Holy ____ that’s a lot of work for a limited gain.”

But, the experiment and the observers will have to decide whether the effort:benefit ratio is worth it.

    SpidermanBlackWidow

When I feel bummed I like to find covers of comics that I own. This is one of them. Let’s all go to Quadra Island and chill out and look at the ocean.

16 days including today that remain. Two weeks from today is the final measurements.Florida seems to have had a bad go of it. Understatement. And then the tragedy becomes political with people being even more offensive.

It makes my little challenges seem small and immaterial.

I think today I will try to make the world a better place by being calmer, more focused and hope that the efforts to improve my own fitness will help with that goal.

Of course last night’s yoga class has left my lower abs begging for mercy and today I have a trainer session to try to amp things up.

Here’s a sad thing that will make you laugh. I used to regularly eat pizza on Friday nights with the family. I had been missing this a lot until this past week. I lost my pizza urge. O MY GOD I’ve been taken over by aliens. I checked in on my chocolate urge though. Thank heavens it’s still there.

Still time to play Guess The Lard Game here. Guesses have been posted.

    SecretInvasion

One thing no one mentions is that Civil War was instigated by the bad guy aliens The Skrulls. They shapeshift. Shape shift yourself to Banff! Guess the weight game is here.

The blood pressure is sneaking up and I think this is a mind game. The pulse rate settles nicely at 66 now with limited effort. I have yoga tonight and I’m keen to try out some of the small but clever tricks I learned yesterday in yoga therapy.

Tomorrow marks 2 weeks and 2 days to go. The final trainer session and weigh in will be Monday June 27 and I publish the final results on June 28.

I couldn’t help but think of a line from Shrek the Third. Donkey: And you really need to get yourself a pair of pants! I feel all exposed and nasty!

Unlike Donkey, I chose to be this exposed. Good grief, what was I thinking?
