Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 33

I was looking for Crisis on Infinite Earths images and found this. Snowstorms in Manitoba. Record cold in Vancouver

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 33
It’s Thanksgiving weekend and I’m thinking of taking a break from this as I keep screwing up the diet and stressing out. The key element I see at play here is a lack of rest.

So time to try to chill out. I see a movie. I need to clean around the apartment. Maybe I’ll have a nap.

I am very thankful for my family and for muffins at Urban Fare. Damn, damn, damn.

Supergirl and some Bat folk. People crossing to the US from places like Abbotsford are being detained by US Customs. A mystery.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 32
I promised myself that today I would be focused and on it. Uh huh. I find myself trying to figure out why my Fitbit Versa is not synching with my phone. Sigh. It says there’s an update for the watch but it doesn’t seem to be connecting.

Meanwhile, I face a total fricking inability to control snack time.

I am trying to convince myself that being hungry is good. It’s manly. It’s power. It’s something other than a drive toward muffins.

On the strength front, I was so sore yesterday I really was Ommmmm in the yoga class. I will have to have a short weight workout. Too many meetings today.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 31

I got my CW Superhero show fix last night. According to the CBC, Hamilton is struggling with hate.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 31
Finally a day where I wasn’t too embarrassed to write down what I ate. There are compulsive eating issues here for sure. The trick is not to think about it too much while being mindful. Sort of like Han Solo telling Chewbacca to “fly casual.”

Meanwhile I have sore muscles from the self-paced workout. I did not ride today because 3 ° C is too cold for my riding capability.

Much to do. Time to focus.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 30

A rare departure from comic book. Last night’s walk home on Granville Bridge (above Granville Island) looking at the Burrard Bridge where the Extinction Rebellion was happening.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 30
So, my goal for yesterday was a bust. So bad I’m not documenting it. Except, I was walking home and decided to take the Granville Bridge instead of the Burrard Bridge because the Extinction Rebellion folks were, er, rebelling.

However, I ended up at Vera’s Burger Shack and somewhat involuntarily ended up in a discussion with a lady about the rebellion on the bridge. She was miffed that it was personally inconveniencing her. I decided to take the chill optimist/realist non-confrontational persona because I wasn’t interested in conflict. I did remind her that we were warned about the protest and had lots of opportunity to avoid it and I got a great walk out of it. I managed to say that protests like that are why we no longer have child labour in mines. She seemed very uniformed about woman’s rights and was resigned to it being a man’s world. Which is true only if you are a white older man and only then of a type that older white men find useful. I didn’t even get into what the Suffragettes went through to get women the vote. It wasn’t that mom’s experience from Mary Poppins, that’s for sure.

The railing against Capitalism I find kind of quaint. What’s the other option, Communism? The Chinese government seems to have perfected a free market communism which is like a humanist mass murderer. How about an efficiently regulated free market system in which the pursuit of wealth is not allowed to do so while harming others and the environment?

The diet was worse because wine was needed at home after that.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 29

Obviously it’s not always good in the Bat Family.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 29
It’s Monday. Do you know where your diet is? Well, my plan is to have a strict week until about dinner on Friday when I go out with a friend. This assumes neither of us have disasters like broken water tanks and other equipment in our respective homes.

But I’m starting the day with a full breakfast because I’m early downtown due to avoiding a threatened closure of the Burrard Bridge in Vancouver near my home by Extinction Rebellion. It’s really wet out so I’m wondering how effective they’ll be. But the climate is going to kill us all if we make significant change.

If the Americans can rid themselves of their hideous president, it might help.

Oh, by the way, if you donate platelets on Saturday, your Sunday evening yoga class will be more difficult.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 26

I was looking for Flash and Batwoman, but found this instead. No Wonder Woman in the TV universe. First Sabre-tooth Cat fossil in Medicine Hat!

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 26
The ongoing disaster that is my diet plan is something I’d refer to a higher power, if I knew what that higher power was.

Tonight I go out with a friend and catch a movie. That’ll help.

And fitness. I had no trouble with the sled or the tire. I increased speed and weight respectively. The deadlifts were “meh.” Then, with the benchpress, I increased weight by 5 pounds. WTF.

As Dory said, “Just keep swimming; just keep swimming.”

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 25

Lots of Marvel folks. 55,000 education folks ready to strike in Ontario.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 25
More diet hell. All from my brain. I wanted to simply give up this morning.

But the choices are limited. Eat, get fat, have a medical crisis, die. Keep at it, maintain training, become able to lift small cars, enjoy bulk pain killers from Costco.  Then, like everyone else, die.

And now … a day of to focus on all my work. Oh look, I got a like on Twitter.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 24

The Birds of Prey did not start with Harley Quinn. Delta BC will find out soon what the recommendation for the Massey Tunnel is. Should be fun.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 24
If you don’t get enough sleep, eat more.

This may not literally be a voice in your head, but if you were to review your own eating when you stay up too late and get up too early, you will (and definitely I will) notice the uptake of high carb and sugar foods. It’s often followed by the phrase “I don’t fucking care anymore.”

I conclude all the dramatic articles about sleep and rest are probably correct but are undercut by the dramatic headlines. Here’s one for you.  Here’s What Happens in the Brain When You Don’t Get Enough Sleep

On the trainer front, it was a good session and the conclusion is that I have to keep my shoulder blades slightly down and in so that I don’t over stretch them. No scar tissue, just the results of years of crap posture.

I feel like I’m trying to audition for Superman in a comedy review.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 23

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 23

This is what my head felt like today. Meng Wanzhou hearing in Vancouver had a quote, “They were resplendent in their ordinariness.” See CBC.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 23
Yesterday was so bad and I’ve had so much technology trouble today that I don’t have the diet chart filled in.

Today I saw a new trainer and he’s pretty good. The news from the RMT tells me that I should be making sure the shoulder blade muscles feel active pretty much during all waking hours. If the over stretched part of the back in held where it should be, there’s a chance it might heal up. The icky part of the muscle does not like it at all.

It was a day of frustration. We all know where that goes, dietary-ly speaking.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 22

This version of Superman is to appear on TV this year. Political dust-up in Hamilton yesterday.

Mutant Diet Phase 11 Day 22
Massage therapy is not as pleasant as it sounds. My upper back is over stretched. Keyboard, mouse, weights are all pulling on it and giving it pain. But it’s not just the spot I notice on the right. When she dug into the left side, I thought I was going to die.

Posture … critical. Strengthening the middle of up the upper back, crucial. Release pectoral muscles, also crucial.

And, yes, the food situation is still sucking. No gym today. The back needs to remain where the good RMT put it.
