    Mutant Diet Phase 10a Finale

Why do they want to put 6 bad guys into the upcoming Batman movie. Murder suspects still on the loose in Manitoba. How are they surviving the wilderness?

    Mutant Diet Phase 10a Finale
Ugh. I gained two pounds between the end of Phase 10 and the start of Phase 10a and then basically kept that 2 pounds. Honestly I feel a little less bulky around the middle, but that may be the exercise.

What did I learn? I don’t have a hope in hell of losing weight unless I stay consistently within 2000 – 2200 for days at a time. No effing chance.

I am planning for what I do next. Obviously aggressive fitness with a strong plan to avoid injury will keep the metabolism amp’d up.

The brain game will be crucial. I need to drop the stress around all this and simply do the maximum of what can be done without needless judgement. I have a process that I know works. It’s time to try to encourage it.

There’s going to be a vacation week the first full week of August and then at least two strict weeks following. Let’s see what I can do.

Let’s call this the end of Phase 10a and see what happens in August.

I needed an old Justice Society image today. Apparently Bernie Sanders buys his drugs in Windsor.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 22
Focus and concentration problems? What focus and concentration problems?

    Where was I?

Oh, yeah, I have to weigh-in today and do a double session with yet another trainer because the trainer covering the mat leave trainer got a dream job. It’s not that I don’t like change; it’s that I don’t like change I don’t decide on in advance.

The weekend was a dietary bust and I just can’t write down all the deviances.

I had tried an experiment with going off blood pressure medicine for a week to see if it would change bodily functions (e.g. how often I get up in the night) but it was a modest improvement that could be explained by other factors. My BP went up 20 points on the top number, so back to blood pressure meds again for me. The good news is my pulse registered at 61 bpm. At least I’ve got something right.

For the record, last night at yoga I got through the whole class without any of that mid-back pain. Phew. Now, if only the gout toe would leave me alone.

Tomorrow I will publish the weight chart, warts and all. It was not a great mini phase, but I can only imagine how much worse it would have been had I not been trying.

Silver Sable. I don’t know much about her. Apparently there’s such a thing as a Salmon Shark off of Vancouver Island.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 19
Another tough morning. Up too late. Did too much. Food plan is all wrong.

There just aren’t that many options. The real goal here is to maintain some sort of decent attitude. There’s no purpose to being a grumpy mess.

Let’s see if I can actually accomplish anything!

An obscure group called Squadron Supreme. Northern Manitoba is hosting some people on the run.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 18
Holy moly. I think the back issue is under control but today’s massage therapist session left me feeling like little birds were flying around my head. I have to do chest openers regularly to prevent this from happening again. Also, I’ll have to start the deadlifts again with very low weight.

Yesterday’s screw up with the alarm did not bode well for diet. Plus there’s a lot of situational stress that also does not help.

I am so grateful that I have the resources to access an RMT of this skill. My front body opened up making me feel pumped up without having to lift weight. So odd.

Looks they found a new Blade. Spider-man knows everyone. A couple of residents of Port Alberni are in the news for the wrong reasons.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 17
Talk about complete cock-ups. This morning due to human error I overslept. Then I tried to log into work to find the Internet was down. A frustrating call with Telus and a rather speedy bike ride got me to work. Then other activities happened and now rather late I’m trying to do this post.

I did yoga class, which tested the mid back muscles and they did not spasm. This is good and they seem to be holding in place.

I had a late breakfast and a late lunch and now I’m hungry again. A big meal at The Keg just does not hold you long enough.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 16

The concept of alternative realities has been around for a long time. A rare trip to Langley BC last night. Article pending.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 16
I am not longer in denial about chocolate almonds. I bought a cheap bag of then to help offset stress and the pain in my back. Once done I read the back of the package and did the arithmetic. 40 grams is 220 calories, which means the 250 gram bag was 1375.

Later, I went out to dinner with a friend. No wonder it’s so easy for people to blow past recommended calorie counts. I have to keep these numbers in mind even when I’m tempted.

At the personal trainer session I discovered that my back issue was from a deadlift exercise. There’s a nasty pulling sensation when I just tried to properly lift the bar by itself. This will be a slow path back to that exercise. In the meantime, there’s been some improvement. The trainer reset my trapezius, which when I Googled it seems to cover the entire in-pain area. Chiro today and RMT on Thursday.

Fingers crossed. I need to go past this.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 15

They announced a female Jane Foster/Thor. Natalie Portman to play. I wonder if she’ll do Hemsworth’s workouts. London Ontario has dropped to a reasonable temperature.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 15
The challenge for positivism. I was in yoga class and the mid-back freaked out part way through. It was not any specific poses. The muscles around the right shoulder blade became very angry. I had to do a lot of the class flat on my back. What gives? It’s the lack of predictability that is annoying. There’s the old joke, “Doctor, doctor it hurts when I walk like that. Then don’t walk like that.”

    Then I was hungry.

I have a personal trainer session today. I’ve warned her. And I’ve booked the massage therapist and the chiropractor to see if they can talk these muscles into chilling out.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 14

It would be cool for Tom Holland’s Spider-man to deal with either Carnage or Venom. North Bay Ontario is still pretty toasty at 24°

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 14
A relaxation day in which I dropped some of my tension. Of course, the diet was off the rails but it doesn’t feel that way. I allowed enough hours before dinner to have the pancakes clear the digestion and then I had a picnic on the beach with friends with way too much wine. I suspect it went straight to my back muscles.

Today I would have had a muffin in the AM but I started with my standard one egg and two slices of bacon. I want to signal the innards that we’re not done yet.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 13

Batwoman and Red Hood. Looking forward to TV in the Fall. Toronto is 33° feeling like 39°. Good Grief.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 13
I wasn’t going to do this blog post because I woke up and make a lot of pancakes for the whole family.

But in the end, it’s summer, I’m favouring my back still and I’m trying to enjoy myself.

And now we have a picnic on the beach planned. I’m trying to chill out. Especially the back.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 12

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 12

I saw a little of Spider-man 2 on TV last night. Cool effects for 2004. Check out my photos of Granville Island.

Mutant Diet Phase 10a Day 12
The mid back around the right shoulder blade is still very unhappy. My meeting schedules were too wonky to go to the gym, which might have been a blessing in disguise. Fooled by the back’s relative calm, I rode the Stanley Park long route. However, I was in significant discomfort by the time I arrived home.

The diet was a bit better yesterday. But I’m not in the sweet spot to see any significant losses. The trick now is not to despair because even moderate self-control will prevent significant loss of progress.

Ibuprofen does work on this muscle pain, which is a welcome surprise. How many of those can you take every thirty minutes or so?
