Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 35

The Defenders live action show have only Daredevil as a common character. My daughter is hiding on an obscure BC Gulf Island (Gambier) this weekend.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 35
I set out yesterday to do a 3-rep version of the heavy lifting routine and managed to up benchpress to 30 pounds per side and did 11 on the mid row.

Of course I started to feel like hell with this cold. I took my temperature at one point and it measured on the low side of normal. My wife and I had to cancel plans and arrange to sleep in today. I’m still both feeling and sounding gross.

This really does not help diet/fitness. I have a plan dammit and I want to keep to it. The desire to want to scream in frustration is high.

And, of course, apart from frighten the children and annoy my wife, what does that accomplish?

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 34

From a Defenders comic I own. British Columbia is enjoying a lot of sunshine.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 34
I chose not to tally the calories due to the fact it was an obvious mistake, but I was invited out for Pho Soup and my throat said YES PLEASE!

I can’t really tell what’s normal as this cold really beat me up and this leads to weirdness. I did hit the gym today but I planned for 3 sets and managed that. I was able to up the weight with two exercises.

My self perception jumps around. Sometimes good sometimes bad.

Until I’m feeling better, I’m going to minimise my thinking about this stuff.

The Defenders more retro. It’s a gorgeous Fall day in Vancouver.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 33
Phoo yuck. Damn cold. Piss off.

Yesterday, I did this serious self-paced workout and then by 3 PM I was starting to feel rough. I rode home to help a child who was also feeling rough.

So, today I have to take it easier. I think I’m heading home early.

    Not. Any. Fun.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 32

The Defenders with Luke Cage. Let’s try St. John’s NL.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 32
Yesterday was strange because I noticed my body was demanding more calories. It wasn’t cravings, because I managed to skip the 2:30 PM snack attack (failed later mind you). At lunch when I was serving chicken my quiet voice in my head said “I need 3 pieces of chicken.” There was really no room for debate.

Yoga was tough because of the heavy lifting workout on Tuesday. But all my muscles were activated, more so with the cycling.

I check with my Trainer and she said that it’s normal for the demand for calories to increase when strength training. The trick is not to grab the sugars and carbs when the demand kicks in.

More Defenders. I was thinking about Ucluelet today.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 31
Well, things went really well until the fatigue, cold-in-the-nose and situational stress kicked in.

Plus there was pumpkin pie in the fridge.

I thought a 100 grams of chocolate almonds would not be too bad, but at 5.5 calories per gram, it’s just something I’ll have to ditch. It’s quite frustrating.

The personal trainer session was brutal because I can handle an increase in either weight or reps on all my exercises. Apparently normal practice is to increase the weight on one exercise. I can handle an increase on 4 out of 5.

It’s gratifying to find out there’s something positive in the fitness realm my body does naturally.

I had carbs this morning due to weakness of mind and taste buds, but I am riding my bike today.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 30

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 30

    The original Defenders.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 30
Good giref. Day 30. That means I’m about one-third into this phase.

Regardless, we don’t count calories on Thanksgiving. I’m sure it’s against the law somewhere.

However, a week today is a planned weigh-in so I would like to be on the plan as much as possible so that I don’t have a skewed number due to my weird food intolerances. For example, dairy makes me keep water. Wheat is just a freak show reaction ranging from stomach aches to sleepiness.

And I do a trainer session today. I often feel kind of zapped after the session and I reach for chocolate. New plan: reach for Tylenol.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 29

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 29

This week is The Defenders who started with The Hulk, Namor and Dr. Strange. Regina was a bit sunny today.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 29
Yes, there’s no calorie counts for yesterday and today because I’m too lazy. I’m also trying not to get my daughter’s cold so boo hiss.

However, I notice that even with taking a documentation break, I am not eating like it’s going out of style. That’s a departure. Tonight is vegetarian Thanksgiving, which I am now starting to prepare.

I am thankful for a lot. Pumpkin pie, for example. And my family who are healthy and wise even with a cold or two.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 28

Here’s what the Teen Titans will look like on TV. The first place I could find that had sun was Lake Country, BC.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 28
It’s a morning with rain, a sick child and the promise of Thanksgiving treats tomorrow.

    I need more coffee.

There was a lady online being trolled by a doctor about her weight. He Twitter handle is “Fat Girl Flow”. Her tweet read, “The fact that people think they get to pontificate about what my body would/could be is sickening. Not to mention I have had an eating disorder for nearly 20 years – of course I’ve done keto jack ass. Ya know what happens? IT CREATED DISORDERED EATING LIKE EVERY OTHER DIET. Fuck.”

I felt so sorry for her that I wrote, “Aren’t doctors, when they encounter a new person they think has an issue, supposed to say, ‘That’s interesting. Gosh, I would love to review that person’s full medical history.’ It’s called a pat diagnosis and even Monty Python understood this in the 70s.” I attached this link. http://www.montypython.net/scripts/milkman.php The video is here, www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI0RiqK3XJc

Diet/fitness is a long journey in a dark closet with a bag over your head.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 27

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 27

21st Century Teen Titans. I wonder what the Okanagan is looking like this time of year.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 27
I almost did not tally up calories from yesterday. I had a day off and I took my wife out to lunch after a yoga class. I mean, seriously, how much more Vancouver do you want to get?

There was a distinct sense of “oh fuck, who cares?” But, today, I felt that if I can’t be honest about this and just move along, how am I ever going to make that lasting change the self help books talk about?

I managed to do most of the heavy lifting workout homework even though it was at the gym that’s got a strange vibe. But it’s right beside where my son dances on Saturday so – hello, your downtown gym membership works here – how much easier do you want this to be?

Since it’s Thanksgiving weekend, there will be some recreational eating, but if I can keep it from being a total eat-a-thon, things will work out.

  • Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 26

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 26

I was trying to find a 90s/2000s image but this really old one came up. I wonder if it’s worth trying to hide in Squamish.

Mutant Diet Phase 8 Day 26
The good news is I need to take my belt to the shoe repair place so they can put a new hole in it. The bad news is I weakened last night and had a wine/snack attack. Despite this, my calorie estimate was still below my Fitbit’s estimate of calories burned.

My workout was pretty intense. I managed four sets of six exercises with fairly high (for me) weight setting. I really should not say this, but the reduction in belt size makes me think this phase seems to be faster than last. Although really, why do I lose weight off everywhere I don’t care about first?

I’ve been tinkering with the plan, e.g. better calorie counting and heavy weights. But how do you know what is changing the system?

No matter. It’s Thanksgiving weekend soon and I’m thankful.
